What is Vieo?

Traditional seam roofs date back hundreds of years and use materials like lead, copper and zinc which require a highly skilled, specialised installer to achieve a good installation.  Sheets will often be formed onsite and the nature of the products means that they are usually bespoke.  The attractive finish of this labour-intensive, complicated and expensive roofing option can be emulated by Vieo which is cost-effective, precision manufactured and quick to install.

Vieo is a cost effective alternative to traditional lead and zinc roofing,  it is quick and simple to install and is available in a variety of metals including steel and aluminium.  Vieo provides the aesthetic and charm of time-honoured materials like lead or zinc and is manufactured by Euroclad using the latest technology. The products details are simpler therefore making it quicker and easier to install.  Vieo is also available curved or tapered, making it easy to achieve relatively complicated building shapes.

Vieo means stitch or seam in Latin which refers to the seam overlap that is folded and closed to secure the roof and make it weather able.  The roof is a perfect complement of cost, technology and form.  A range of exciting materials, colours and finishes provides a relatively low-cost alternative to traditional systems without compromising colour, quality or finish.

Available as a warm or cold roof and is suitable for use with residential, commercial and public buildings.

Cherry Tree Blossoms

26 February 2016

Vieo has once again proven its suitability for the refurbishment of traditional buildings with its specification for the extension of a 17th century listed house in Thorverton, Exeter. Cherry Tree Cottage has been significantly altered and modernised internally, whilst retaining a plan that identifies with its heritage. VieoZinc was chosen for the roof of the new extension; a material which provides the perfect combination of traditional zinc looks with the benefits of modern metal roof manufacture. The material is comprised of an aluminium substrate with a coating that contains actual zinc particles; providing the characteristic look, finish and weathering of zinc sheets. Euroclad installer MPK Cladding installed the Vieo roof for developer Raleigh Property, with Devon-based Living Space Architects helping to translate the vision of clients Andrew and Kelly Foster into reality.

A higher calling

01 July 2015

One of the more surprising applications for Vieo has been its use on religious buildings. This is testament to the versatility and aesthetics of Vieo and the fact that its creation was inspired by traditional metal roofing. Combine this traditional starting point with its nature as a highly engineered, contemporary metal roof and wall system, and the result is a roof and wall finish that works equally well with both modern and traditional materials. This was the case at Chipping Sodbury Baptist Church where Vieo was used on the roof and walls to refurbish and extend the existing Church building. The doors opened on the new building on the 4th April this year, which was a very exciting day with over 400 visitors.

For Coffee Lovers

04 August 2014

Nobody loves a cup of coffee more than us; and it was a pleasure to again be associated with the nation's favourite coffee shop when Vieo was chosen for the roof and walls of Costa Coffee’s store in Caxton Gibbett, Cambridge. Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra prefinished steel was installed by KGM Roofing on behalf of Lindum Group Ltd, and the commitment shown by all those involved resulted in a great-looking building. This is one of several Costa Coffee stores that we’ve supplied and we hope that the dark coloured Vieo sheets become synonymous with the such an iconic brand.

Costa Coffee

13 March 2014

Nobody loves a cup of coffee more than us; and it was a pleasure to be associated with the nation's favourite coffee shop when Vieo was chosen for the dramatic roof and walls of Costa Coffee’s latest store in Taunton. Despite a challenging build MA Witcombe successfully installed the Vieo sheets on behalf of PDR Construction, and the commitment shown by all those involved resulted in a great-looking building. The Vieo roof and walls were manufactured from Anthracite-coloured Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra and this was the first Costa Coffee store that we’ve supplied.

Trumpington

05 March 2014

Trumpington Meadows Primary School is a state school for boys and girls aged from 4 to 11 which features 2,600m2 of Vieo roof manufactured using the VieoZinc material; an aluminium substrate with a zinc-rich coating that looks and weathers the same as zinc but at a fraction of the price. It wasn’t just the great looks of the Vieo roof that secured its specification but also its performance. Vieo can be installed as a warm or cold roof but in this instance it features an excellent 0.15W/m2K U-Value. The thermally efficient roof was installed by specialist contractor TR Freeman, working for principal contractor Willmott Dixon. Matching flashings and feature details were also manufactured by us.
